The "Good Practices for Public Environmental Expenditure Management (GPPEEM)", published by OECD in 2003, provide guidance on how to design and implement public environmental expenditure programmes in line with the sound principles of public finance. To guide the OECD member states in improving the management of their public environmental expenditure programmes, in 2006, the OECD Council adopted the GPPEEM as Council Recommendation.
